About me - You had us at hello

Welcome! I like you already, you have such good taste for wanting to read more…

Let me tell you a little bit about me and my blog.

I started this blog as I was concerned about the amount of negative reviews and rants about service on the internet. Where was all the good service reports? There is PLENTY of awesome service out there so why not create a space that recognises those people and celebrate their kindness.

I’ve always been into awesome service because that was my job for 20 years. Before I met my Farmer and had two cheeky boys (in the old days before Reality TV shows helped Farmer’s find a wife), I worked in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry. I loved it! I’ve worked in bars, cafes, top restaurants and hotels, airlines, government jobs and even a cruise ship. It was a small ship. It had its fun moments but it was seriously like Big Brother – could you imagine eating, working and living on a small boat with the same people for 5 weeks! CRAZY TOWN! But it was very character building, I saw a lot of Scotland and I made some gorgeous friends.

One of my favourite jobs was working in a 5 star hotel lobby bar. It was a pretty awesome job. Some of my workmates are my best mates today. The best thing about this job is that we were encouraged to give above and beyond service. Greeting returning guests with their usual as they sat at the bar. Remembering their name and the conversation you both had from last visit. That is THE business.

One of our favourite guests was called Mr Farmer – haha! I’m not kidding! He was thrilled we remembered him each visit. He mentioned on one of his stays, he wouldn’t see us the following night as he had a lot of work to do in his room. So what did we do? Before he returned to his room, we sent 3 Crown Largers on ice, up to his room with a note saying – Don’t work too hard! Best part of the job – giving awesome service and making people smile! It’s so much fun 🙂

So my blog is a place we sing praise and thank someone for being awesome. Now I’m on the receiving end of service I want to encourage those that do such a brilliant job.  It can be a nurse, a bottleshop attendant, the dentist…absolutely anyone. Each week I hold a AAA Meeting (Applause! Applause! Applause!) where we come together and discuss the nicest thing that happened to you that week service wise. The best above and beyond story I will post a thank you card to that lovely one for being so awesome AND a little something for the service spotter too. Why not hey!! Fat Boy Slim was into praise, me too!

** On a side note I’m into home renos, endorphins after a good workout that I debated for hours I couldn’t be bothered doing, cooking something and nailing it, classic John Hughes movies, reading books you can’t put down – they were THAT good, cuddles from my boys, holidays, shopping, wining and dining, laughs with loved ones and drink of choice depending on the mood. There are heaps of other loves but I’m sure they’ll get a mention further down the track.

*** You’ll notice there’s now a shop on my blog.  It’s due to open soon so stay tuned. I’ve created another set of cards so can’t wait to reveal real soon.

Welcome to my world, let’s sprinkle some warmth and (Oprah’s fave) gratitude to well deserving everyday people.

WOW…I love the premise of your blog, and you have such a beautiful energy! Thank you for celebrating our everyday heroes, without whom this world couldn’t function as well, and it would certainly be a much colder and unfriendly planet.
