Are you a modern day Royalist?

This postcard has been on our fridge ever since Prince George was born!

Did you hear the word on the street? Kate has gone into labour!!! My beloved London residing friend just text me and we both squealed with delight. I also messaged another friend the exciting news and she replied “Kate who?” Then I stopped and thought, maybe it isn’t such huge news. Perhaps me and my London buddy, are in fact Royalists…

It’s a buzz around Perth at the moment Prince Harry is in town. Rumour has it he’ll be at the footy tonight! Somebody stop me!! Oh that’s right, I live 4 hours away from the footy oval so no chance getting there this arvo. A lovely singleton friend was out with her mates last night and tonight hoping to catch a glimpse! Oh the excitement! He is a bit lovely! He was spotted in a trendy bar in Perth on Thursday night – only the same bar my London friend and I last caught up it last time we had lunch together. What are the chances!?

But still, I do wonder if in fact I am a Royalist and just didn’t know it. Both my Nannas loved the Queen. One was English and had a hierarchy of her own. She was funny and posh, a bit like Mrs Bucket – that’s Bouquet to you! They were born in the same year too. My other Nanna was a huge Lady Di fan and really, who wasn’t back in the day! She was a love.

I looked around my house, just to check if there was any clues to me loving the Royals, and this is what I found…

Buckingham Palace tea towel, it really could do with an iron but that's crazy town!

Mail from my lovely London friend. How well does she know me!!

Uuuuum! I think this qualifies for yes, yes in fact I am a Royalist and I blame my English roots because of it. Haha! But in all seriousness I do love them. Sure they live a very charmed life on tax payers money but losing a huge amount of privacy would be a hard price to pay. Comments on every fine detail of your life in the tabloids would give you the shits after awhile.

Currently drinking. That's a Charles and Di teaspoon too.

Currently drinking. Yep, that’s a Charles and Di teaspoon. This is getting freaky!

Taking tops off whilst holidaying with friends may end up with pictures taken by onlookers whether your famous or not so famous because…BOOBS! Can’t say it’s something I do with friends but don’t knock it til you’ve tried it hey. No! Even then, no chance!

So are you thinking a boy or a girl for Will and Kate? And what baby name will they choose? Funny enough even my boys names are Royal names. But ask any of my friends and they’d all agree, yes, I’m a Royalist. I even threw a Royal Wedding party. Oh dear! But fear not! I won’t be camping outside the hospital for baby news dressed in the British flag – my friend is doing that – KIDDING!!! But some joyful baby news is just what the world could do with after such an awful week of news. Puuuuuush Kate! The world is watching and waiting to celebrate your wonderful news!

It is exciting! You guessed the girl right Charlene. I like Charlotte too, and it is after Prince Charles after all. A Diana mention would be divine too. We will see 😉 x

yaye! They named her Charlotte Elizabeth Diana! I was hopeful that they would put Diana in there too Jo! It is a non-traditional name – but totally deserves be carried on!

Such a gorgeous name! I love that it names 3 of her grandparents name yet it’s still a very “now” name. Now for the souvenirs! haha! And Diana’s name in there – heavy heart xx

I have a bit of a soft spot for the royals. You can really see the Diana legacy living through her two boys. They have a much more relaxed approach and a wonderful sense of humour that has definitely come from her. She would be so proud of her sons.

Wouldn’t she just! It seems such a shame she went through so much sadness in her life. But Will and Harry have continued our love of the Royals. They are just so charming, relaxed and lovely. Will picked well in Kate too. Don’t think they’ll ever be another Fergie! LOL!

Did you? I really wasn’t sure. Do you think they already knew? I did hear Kate ordred something really that was gender specific so the press went into to overdrive. bit exciting! She has good genes there, she’ll be adorable just like her big brother! If only we looked that good after a baby! I’m sure mine is a frazzled “just been hit by a bus, I need ALL the worlds coffee” stagger when I left the hospital! haha!xx

oh the sound of helicopters overhead all day! We live not far from Kensington Palace and you could be mistaken for thinking we’d gone to war instead of safely delivered of a royal baby. We have the collectors edition Sunday paper and I will be the first one to buy the commemorative mugs and tea towels, don’t you worry Jo, yours will be in the post of course! I’m so excited I’m ringing my friends to tell them we now have a name, like Kate’s my bestie and I will be popping round for tea to visit the new arrival. In my dreams!

Haha! Be sure to get a selfie with Kate when you pop over for tea and cakes. Oh to be in her Mothers Group aye xoxox

What a lovely blog … I can feel your positive vibes through the wires. I thought I’d pop in, and thank you again for visiting my blog today.
I’m moving soon so, of course there’s packing to be done. Inevitably, that means coming across things that you only find when you’re packing, and I found the special edition newspaper for Charles and Diana’s wedding. I still remember getting up at five in the morning to watch it live.
I’m thinking that makes me a Royalist?
Many of us Canadians and Australians have our roots in England, so I think it’s in our blood. 🙂

Wow Tracey! What a brilliant discovery! I bet you were tickled pink. I don’t remember Charles and and Diana’s wedding too well as I was just 6 but I remember having a little pocket book of the wedding I carried around with me everywhere. And I remember watching Andrew and Fergie’s wedding at my Dad’s work when I was 10. Haha! It must be in our blood, that would explain our love for tea too 😉 Thanks for stopping by lovely x
