Taking Stock – February 2017

If I get this post out it’ll be a miracle!! School bus due in seconds, yet to have any tea or coffee wake up…I’m a scatterbrain but everything is organised – tickets, don’t forget those!! – as I’m seeing Adele TONIGHT!! So excited!! Although parking and finding mum in a crowd of 65 thousand people does have me a little anxious. Shit! Expect the worse, expect the worse, breathe!! I’m sure after the 3.5hr drive I’ll find my zen – trust me! LOL! Making : Plans for quick Perth escape tonight. Boys are having a sleepover with the grandparents. Cooking : Last night was Vietnamese Lettuce Cups the uber cookbook Merrymaker Sisters. They’re a little messy to eat but geez we love em! Drinking : Pints of water, pints of soda water, earl grey tea and a few Margaritas last week! Reading : Well after Amy Schumer cancelled her tour – boo! I stopped reading that book. I currently have 5 books to read. Just about finished Confessions of a Qantas Flight Attendant. I’d have to say I was expecting more goss and OMG stories but not really. It’s taken me forever to read as it’s not grabbed me. If anything it makes me […]

Can we keep on Summer holidaying?

Hey Hey!! How you doin? Time to get back in the saddle! Slowly does it… Many of you have kids going back to school this week, we’ve got that happening on Feb 1st so still a little time to chill. I totally LOVED having two weeks off over Christmas and New Year and then some. I hope you got the chance to relax too. I finally got the chance to binge watch OITNB – wow that’s addictive!! Sadly Farmer finished harvest the week I went back to work but that’s all good. We’re just glad he’s finally finished and we get to see him more often – yay! I’m totally loving the cruisy fresh vibe the start of a new year brings. Rewind back to the lead up to Christmas and oh my word!! I thought I was going to split into two life was so busy. Making new plans, chilling by the pool with ya mates during swimming lessons, hens and buck weekend getaways, weddings… seriously, can we keep on this Summer holiday vibe? It’s so much fuuuun! It kinda freaks me out school is just 8 days away but having said that, routine in the house is a […]

Taking Stock – November 2016

Guess who got Adele tickets?!! SHUT UP!! I know! It’s pretty amazing really as I left it up to Farmer to get them. He’s never bought tickets like that before so there was a lot of pressure. Plus the Ticketek site crashed just an hour before. Pretty impressive Farmer – brownie points for you. We’ve just quietly told Mum we didn’t get tickets so she’ll be suitably impressed when she gets a ticket for Christmas. Hope she isn’t reading this – if you are Mum SURPRISE!! Act surprised when you get it ok! Time to take stock again, another season is near – can you believe it? Longest Winter ever?!! It’s a real shame really as the wildflowers out my way took a while to come out because of it and that’s a huge attraction for all the travellers I meet at work. Having said that those few 40C days were enough to knock us out for the count. Then it was freezing – who can keep up? No wonder we’ve all been sick – did you get sick too? Hope you missed it! Here’s my take on Pip’s Taking Stock. Join in and tell me where it’s at for […]

10 on 10 – June 2016

Hiya! We’re back for a brand new month of photos in our photography circle. The photography circle (if you didn’t already know) is a fab bunch of friends in various parts of the world, that share 10 photos of what they’ve been up to for that particular month. It’s such a buzz looking at everyone’s photo’s and admiring their photography skills blossom. I like to keep it all about the farm if I can. Being a city girl I still think it’s crazy I ended up living on a farm (Western Australia’s Wheatbelt). I never would’ve guessed it. Although my Dad came from a Dairy farm family in New Zealand so maybe living on farms is in the genes. Farmer has finished seeding this week so we are all so excited to see him in the mornings and at dinner for a change! Yay!! I just love taking pictures of the farm this time of year! Everything is so green and pretty. Much like the traditional farms you would find in New Zealand or England. Well that’s enough chit chat from me, on with the show… Did you see that double rainbow? That little calf is adorable hey!! Very friendly too! How […]

Taking Stock – June 2016

I’m home alone tonight. Man oh man it feels weird, especially for a Friday night! I was cuddled up to the cat but she’s off wondering somewhere. We so thought we lost her the other day?!! Worst feeling ever. The kids were sobbing and I was quietly freaking out on the phone to Farmer once we saw a fox  run past our house. Turns out she was home the whole time. Just having an off day and hiding under a bed. I guess we all have those days huh?!’ Winter sure has crept up on us. I’m loving all the things a new season brings so why not see where it’s at right now and take stock. This is a fabulous idea created by Pip from Meet Me At Mikes. Let’s get cracking… Making : A mess of the fireplace. Whoops! Ash everywhere! Cooking : I just made a red chicken curry. Proper lovely! Drinking : Red wine and soda Reading: About to get stuck into Styling You’s book – Unlock Your Style. New built-in wardrobes coming soon. I have some serious throwing out editing to do Wanting: To hear how my interview went. The wait is killing me!! Looking: More tired after having an […]

What’s with kids at Doctors surgeries?

A quick little meeting today 🙂 I say this but I guarantee I’ll chat for ages – I’m like that Aunty that says I must get going – leaves an hour later. For those of you who are new to the blog – welcome! To understand what these meetings are all about check it out here. I don’t always stick to service stories, we have relaxed chatty type meetings some weeks. What can I say, I’d make a cool girl boss! Hoping you are all well and not in the midst of cold and flus. It’s that time of year hey! We had a bad ear infection that turned fluey that stopped us in our tracks this weekend. Lucky for us the local Doctors surgery was open on Saturday so we quickly got seen to. Doesn’t it make you panic when you’re little one isn’t well and insists on koala cuddles – I do love the all the cuddles though! It was a shame we missed Auskick as the boys favourite – Nat Fyfe – made a surprise visit to the football club, everyone was thrilled he appeared unannounced. Obviously visiting for Mother’s Day – what a good lad! So […]

I’m back! I can’t believe I missed two rounds of our uber cool photography circle but life and shitty internet happens! I also can’t believe last time I was taking photos we were playing under the sprinkler – now we’re freezing our butts off huddling next to the fire. I love that Australia gives us a taste of each season. So this month we got around to starting our first little veggie garden thanks to the help of my friend Kyrstie Barcak. She recently wrote her first book Grow just one thing and ever since then, me and the kids have been busting to get started. I reviewed her awesome book here. It’s well worth the read, it gets you itching to grow something AT ONCE! I’m very new to gardening at the ripe old age of 40. We have lawn that’s still very alive, and a few large succulents I’ve not killed but that’s about it I’m afraid. Once Farmer has finished seeding we have big plans to spend some time in the garden and spruce the place up from looking like a house on a sand pad. Look out Summer I say! So til then here’s a look […]

Grow Just One Thing – A Book Review

This book came into my life just at the perfect time as we’re finally ready start a veggie garden. I’ve always romanced about entertaining with fancy meals paddock to the plate. We’ve got the meat covered so why not from the veggie garden too. I’m not much of a gardener per se so the title had me at hello for sure! Farmer’s nickname for me is Round Up Fingers, real nice! I’m the first to admit I’m no natural but I’m willing to give it a crack. I love wandering around nurseries and watching Better Homes & Gardens for ideas – that’s gotta mean something right? You may know lovely Kyrstie from her blog A Fresh Legacy. She creatively inspires us to get the family involved growing a kitchen garden, and enjoying them in everyday healthy meals. Her pictures and recipes are so drool worthy, you’ll be wondering when your veggie patch is going to get started too! My boys have made a notable liking to broccoli since growing it at school and later making and eating broccoli pasta. So when I suggested we make a veggie garden of our own, they were thrilled! Best way to get kids to […]

How’s your internet connection?

Have you ever seen that meme Home is where the wifi connects automatically? When I first read it I laughed and couldn’t agree more. There’s no place like home where everything you need is at your fingertips. No special codes or extra passwords, just log in and you’re away. But these last few months our internet has been THE WORST, and to be quite frank – it’s giving me the shits!! I realize being in the country, we aren’t going to get a perfect coverage and it costs more – yadder yadder –  but this is torture! The internet is fast becoming a must have household item like electricity – well, maybe not that extreme but it’s getting right up there. Have you noticed how more relaxed you are when you realise your holiday destination comes with free wifi – phew!! It’s funny how the internet has somewhat improved our lives to make things easier and more accessible, but once it’s gone, we start to crumble. There’s a myriad of things we can no longer do and major FOMO starts to kick in. I’ve been close to throwing a typical 3 year old tantee over the matter but my adult self stops […]
