What’s your idea of romance?

Happy Valentines Day! Gawd that sounds so cheesy but it happens only once a year so surely it can’t be that bad!? But so many people roll their eyes and mutter it’s not something they celebrate. It seems a little forced to tell the one you love just how much you love them on a hallmark kind of day yet many moons ago I wished like hell I’d be lucky enough to receive a card full of all the words I wanted to hear…except when it’s someone you’re completely not attracted to! via GIPHY That’s a bit of a clanger right there really. It takes so much courage as it is to admit to someone you fancy them but if it’s not returned well that’s all kind of awks. Let me take you back to circa 1993 (shit really?!!) I was fresh outta high school and still too shit scared to talk to boys. I was still in the land of major crushes and had one on a guy in my class – let’s call him *Bob. *Bob was tall and gangly, flicked his hair a lot (omergawd) and had an earring. He was into Midnight Oil a lot and suddenly so […]

A Merry Bloggy Christmas Eve

A blog post on Christmas Eve!? Who does that!? Isn’t this the day we’re running around the shops like crazy town buying that last gift for someone you haven’t got the slightest clue for! Haha! I may have been completely unorganised at the start and even mid December but I’m happy to say I’ve just got cash in cards to do! (aka teenagers). So I do hope you are smugly organised, resting with a drink in hand while I chat to my beloved bloggy mates that always have me in stitches, well known favourites – Hugzilla, Rachel from Turtles aren’t for Toilets and  Jess from Peachy Keen Mumma. It would be almost criminal if you’re not already following these lovelies. I’ve joined in on the fun too so lets do this!!! Have you finished all your Christmas shopping yet? Hugzy – I’m all done for the first time ever – it’s a Christmas miracle! Me being organised is an even more outlandish Yuletide scenario than the plucky 8 year old who kicked the asses of two armed felons who were trying to break into his house while his parents were en route to Paris. Rachel – Ummm. I think so? I bloody well hope so! I did […]

Merry Bloggy Christmas #3

Four more sleeps til Christmas! Oh I’m in a much calmer state this post than I was the last. School’s out and we can relax! Are you all organised? I think we had 8 parties/windups in 6 days. I worked at my friend’s winery (I know, awesome workplace hey! very me!) and stayed up talking afterwards – as you do – went to sleep at 3am that night!!! Turns out I don’t bounce back like the old waitressing days!! Ouch! And after much festive drinks shared over the weekend, I had my first hangover since Bali! Holiday tip #101 Don’t drink cheap wine! It is not your friend, even in soda water. I’m sure I’ve learnt that tip before! I do like to push the limits though. The wagon will always be waiting I just know it! Well here’s a look at my gorgeous Perth bloggy mates and what they’re up to for Christmas. What knockouts!! So from left to right we have have Shannon from Forty Up, Elsa from Spoilt Hair Retreat, Kristy from Loulou Zoo and Tash from Gift Grapevine. I’ve known these wonderful friends for just over a year but you’d swear we’ve known each other for […]

Hey hey! The countdown is on!! Only 10 more days til we can watch the kids explode with excitement, eat waaaaaaay too much food, and catch up with the rellies candidly after a few wines! Bloody lovely! My next 3 lovely Bloggers I met at Pro-Blogger too. Stacey (aka Veggie Mama) and I share a love of sending funny 80’s movie quotes to each other – always makes me laugh! Sam, Steph and I are all into Jamberry, and giggling, and we’re all in a photography circle together. So we’re in super fine company indeed! If you’re yet to discover their blog I fully recommend it. They may just be the gin to your tonic! From the picture above we have Sam from The Annoyed Thyroid, Stacey from Veggie Mama and Steph from Steph’s Joy. Take it away ladies! Question 1 –  Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? Sam – Almost (although I’m a bit of a fraud as I didn’t have to get a lot to start with) I’ve just got a few bits and bobs to get. We just buy for our god kids and nieces and nephews and a few things for each other. Stacey – Yep, you […]

How To Travel The Virgin Way

If there’s one thing you’ve learnt about me and my blog, it’s that I just adore excellent service. And did you know, it’s just as fun giving excellent service, as it is receiving it! True story. Having worked in an airport, traveled the world via many airports and met family at the airport many times as a kid (in my pajamas – any excuse!) – it would be fair to say I love people watching at airports. Don’t you? But if there’s one thing that stands out in a crowded airport….. it’s the one’s that travel The Virgin Way. The Virgin Way represents the chilled, relaxed traveler that takes all travel situations in their stride. They are prepared for any travel hiccups. Let’s think about the man who is Virgin, Sir Richard Branson. Here’s a savy business man that’s always smiling, looks chilled and oozes success. When one aims to travel The Virgin Way, one must channel Mr Virgin himself and think…. What would Sir Richard Branson do?  1. Understand what you’ve paid for when purchasing airline tickets It’s been said before, we are living in fast times. Who would of guessed years ago, today we can be our very own travel […]

I Saved My Favourite Woman’s Weekly

Just a month ago my Mum gave me a box full of childhood memories she still had in her house. I have a feeling there’s an avalanche of more things to come but it was a good laugh going through some old memories. If you missed that post you can read it here. I kept the best for last. It’s something you’ll never get your hands on again and as you can see from the worn pages…I just adored reading this over and over again! Isn’t it a beauty!!! And being that it would of been Princess Diana’s 54th birthday last week and little Princess Charlotte’s Christening on the weekend, what a fitting way to admire and celebrate some Royal loveliness. It’s hard to imagine Princess Diana was just 20 the day she was married. That seems so young today. I wonder if Princess Charlotte wanted to marry at 20 would it happen? Charles was 32. He does look rather dashing here doesn’t he? Will to a tee! All that white fluff?!! I bet it was quite heavy to wear. Imagine that in Australian summer? Did the dress have an easy exit in case she needed to powder her nose. Haha! Yes these are […]

Mum’s having a cleanout!

Oh-oh! Don’t ya love it when Mum calls to warn you it’s high time you came by to pick up your stuff that has been taking up space in her house for the last 15 years. For years I’ve been able to dodge Mum’s requests to offload. Living with friends so I only have a bedroom; busy travelling; house too small for anything; house a little bigger but no storage and now… well now she’s got me. Now we’re in our forever house with plenty of storage she’s got me cornered. So last weekend Mum was delighted to begin giving me all the stuff I no longer need but can’t bare to throw out. First box I’ve found a few crackers too. Check these out… How cool is this? Can you see it ok? I expect I drew this whilst hanging out at my Dad’s workshop. Back in the day when TVs cost more than they do now, (with back then cost of living) people once rented TV and videos or got them repaired. That’s what my Grandpa and Dad’s business was. On this particular day it would seem I was bedazzled with watching Countdown and watching Boy George and the Culture Club! […]

Are you a modern day Royalist?

Did you hear the word on the street? Kate has gone into labour!!! My beloved London residing friend just text me and we both squealed with delight. I also messaged another friend the exciting news and she replied “Kate who?” Then I stopped and thought, maybe it isn’t such huge news. Perhaps me and my London buddy, are in fact Royalists… It’s a buzz around Perth at the moment Prince Harry is in town. Rumour has it he’ll be at the footy tonight! Somebody stop me!! Oh that’s right, I live 4 hours away from the footy oval so no chance getting there this arvo. A lovely singleton friend was out with her mates last night and tonight hoping to catch a glimpse! Oh the excitement! He is a bit lovely! He was spotted in a trendy bar in Perth on Thursday night – only the same bar my London friend and I last caught up it last time we had lunch together. What are the chances!? But still, I do wonder if in fact I am a Royalist and just didn’t know it. Both my Nannas loved the Queen. One was English and had a hierarchy of her own. […]

Liebster Love

What a mofo crazy sorta week in the world news. I worry sick for all those family and friends on the east coast right now – hope you’re all ok. Can we just rewind to ANZAC Day and start the week again? So times like these I have a trusty Liebster Award I prepared earlier – thank you lovely Karin from Calm to Conniption – for moments such as these. I hope you and your loved ones are cosy and warm. This second Liebster nomination is probably as close as I’m gonna get to an Academy Award or a Logie…..unless on the off chance I get casted on the returning series of Offspring, Dr Patrick is alive and well and I’m his devoted fairy godmother aka Neens new bestie! Bahahaha! Ah NO!?! That’s is all sorts of wrong. This nomination is all about getting to know our fellow bloggers better. Karin has given me 10 questions so here we go…. 1. Early bird or night owl? Night owl from way back but I married a Farmer. Which basically translates to Farmer falls asleep on couch every night and I’m rather grumpy early in the morning when he gets up noisily. […]
