Do you get the housework blues? Why is it that laundry seems to never smile back at us? It just keeps on growing! Have you ever noticed as soon as you mop the floors or clean the windows the kids or family pets are attracted to it like an unforgiving magnet with all their all their sticky mess! Ugh!!
Just the other day our neighbour came to visit. We had a chat over the fence while I was hanging out with the kids outside. I told him in advance there was no chance I was inviting him inside for a cuppa – the house was the usual midweek unorganised chaos and I was too proud to let him see it. That’s totally crazy but it’s a true story! Housework is such a drag and so repetitive
some most EVERY DAY. So when I was recently contacted by a new cleaning company called HomeHello they certainly had me at hello as to what they’re all about.
THIS IS A SPONSORED POST FOR HOMEHELLO
Reliable, affordable and convenient! Keep talking! HomeHello aims to bring happiness and smiles to all homes across Australia. Sounds wonderful! At the moment this new cleaning service is available in Sydney and Melbourne. (I had a feeling our farm was a stretch – LOL!) So to test out this new company I had my blog buddy Michelle from Gee You’re Brave blog have her house cleaned. She lives in Melbourne and works full time juggling the fruits of family life, so I knew she’d love the thought of a cleaner for 3 hours. She did 🙂 and here’s how it all went down.
Thanks so much for testing this out for me Michelle. Have you heard of HomeHello before?
I had never heard of HomeHello before nor did I know anyone who had used the company. However since checking their website I do recall having seen some of their ads on Facebook.
Have you ever hired a cleaner before?
Yes over the years we have used numerous cleaning services, both companies and private local close-to home cleaners. I was very unwell when pregnant both times so having a cleaner was essential. Cleaning can seem endless and when working full time plus having small kids underfoot having a clean and tidy home – albeit briefly before the whirlwinds tear through – can be a sanity saver.
The booking system was straight forward and the website is clean and fresh looking, bright coloured and easy to navigate. I got two reminder emails of my upcoming booking and a reminder of the $40 cancellation fee if I changed the booking.
Did you feel the need to clean before they came? (Its ok, we know it happens!)
I am not a believer in doing this although I have friends who clean before their cleaner arrives. I figure they are professionals and my state of affairs keeps them in a job. So no I didn’t clean but I did tidy through. Cleaners can’t be expected to clear surfaces and remove family clutter. We made sure all surfaces were clear to maximise the time they spent cleaning.
Our cleaner was punctual – in fact early – and worked non stop. He was polite and super quiet – I was working at the dining room table and wouldn’t have known anyone else was in the home if I hadn’t been able to see him. He didn’t make conversation at all other than to ask a few questions like any specific areas that needed attention and was it ok to commense cleaning the bathrooms. I found him very thorough. He tolerated my 3 year old well, who wanted to shadow him from room to room giving him a running recount of what he was doing “You clean our toilet, you washing the floor, you touching the oven, you sweeping” etc etc and “I help you”.
What a cutie!! Did you opt to clean with your cleaning products or did they use their own?
As I was trailing the company I thought it would be best to use their products, although this meant I was charged $5. I found this a little odd. I could of supplied the cleaning products myself if I preferred but I found their list of requirements too long so I went with theirs. It would work great if you were an Enjo type of household.
I will add that the cleaning product they did use had no smell. I saw the product, I could see the clean surfaces but there was no smell to speak of.
I wish I was relaxing with a cocktail. My husband, myself and the kids were all home. I did manage to use the time I would of spent cleaning doing work. My mental relaxation came earlier in the week when I would look at my floors and bathroom. Rather than think “I have to get up early and do those”, I could relax and think “Someone is going to clean those on Sunday for me” That was relaxing!!
What a lovely feeling! I don’t think I’ve ever had that!! Were you happy with the final results?
I can say that the level of clean we got was outstanding. Our house is a rental property and while it’s not generally dirty or untidy, there were stains on the oven top that were there when we moved in and I hadn’t been able to budge. The cleaner was able to get them off. He wiped down all the cabinetry in the kitchen and tackled the cobwebs we tend to get in our high ceilings. The skirting boards were missed but that is being very very fussy!! Overall I was rapt!
The website said that our house couldn’t be cleaned in 3 hours but our cleaner managed to get it all done and to an exceptional standard.
Would you say this was a great value for money product?
Absolutely – time is money these days. I know people who think a cleaner is a luxury and perhaps it is but I look my hourly rate and wonder is it better for myself (or my husband) to spend the time cleaning or can we get someone in to do it cheaper? If so, we tend to outsource to make the most of the time we have.
Would you recommend this service again?
Thanks Michelle! I’m so pleased you were impressed. HomeHello service Melbourne and Sydney metro areas. Even if that’s not in your hood it would make a great gift for a loved one that did. It would make a great gift for some one that was snowed under with workloads or even unwell. We often say to family and friends “Let me know if I can help you in any way” Having their house cleaned would be ideal!
Having a cleaner would be dreamy….and lucky for you, dreams come true! HomeHello has been generous enough to offer this months giveaway on the blog – 3 hours of cleaning – just like Michelle and her family enjoyed. Stay tuned to this weeks AAA Meeting for all the details. Til then, keep your eyes peeled for any great service you discover and be ready to tell me all about it.
